About Tessa Hayward

Tessa Hayward, initially trained in fine art, but left to pursue her passion for the natural environment, studying countryside conservation and working outdoors. This gave her the opportunity to observe wild animals in their natural environment. She was inspired to combine her love of art and nature and began to create wildlife sculptures. Tessa feels that these different disciplines have combined to create work which is sensitive to the environment and captures not only the physical form and movement but also the presence, characteristics and spirit of the subject. Tessa usually works outdoors. She is fascinated by texture and enjoys working on the surface of the sculptures in an intricate and methodical manner, combining metal, wood and bark.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
Thoreau
Customer comment on 'Rainbow 1 (Curved Arched Modern abstract Carved Wooden statue)' by Liliya Pobornikova
Hi Liliya, Rainbow 1 arrived today. I can`t describe my delight, it is so truly awesome, where did you ever find such a piece of wood, and you are so skilled, creating such a unique piece. I`m not worried about the crack, it`s natural, and part of its beauty. This will be a privilege to own, and will last for so many lifetimes. Kind regards,
Mr A. Chalmers, Suffolk, United Kingdom.
